Week Four
Differentiated Instruction (DI) and Understanding by Design (UbD) - Theory Into
Action
The final
project for all participants is the design of an activity/lesson that follows
the research-based principles of differentiated
instruction and understanding by design. You should choose a topic that will be helpful to you in your work with students or other teachers back in your school or district. |
A template
has been provided to help guide your lesson development.
You will be completing and posting a draft of your lesson by the end of week
5. During week 6 you will read two other students’ draft lessons and provide
comments. You will read (and if appropriate) incorporate comments made by students
about your draft lesson into your lesson design.
During the final class we will have a gallery walk for participants to display:
- a hard copy of their lesson
- visuals to support understanding (optional)
- props and/or other lesson materials (optional)
You will also prepare a presentation to the class of not more than 5 minutes
explaining your activity/lesson.
You must post your final project on MassONE sometime before the end of the last
class.
